Some have called it possible civil war in Japan between world champions Inoue and Nakatani, but, it is now a very realistic prospect as a contest.
Both boxers return to action in December in a whirlwind time of many great fights between now and the end of the year for the sport.
Both box on December 27th and if both win, by all accounts, the fight will look to be made next year.
Most likely in Japan.
Naoya Inoue vs Junto Nakatani All Japanese Super Fight Location Options
Here’s a look at five possible venues next year, or even stadiums, for the all Japanese super fight if it can happen:
Tokyo Dome: Iconic mega-venue in central Tokyo with 55,000+ capacity — ideal for a historic all-Japanese clash, echoing rare boxing spectacles like Mike Tyson’s 2000 bout—perfect for nationwide TV frenzy and celebrity-packed atmosphere.
Saitama Super Arena: Saitama’s versatile 37,000-seat powerhouse, a staple for Japanese combat sports — its modular setup suits a super-fight’s production needs, potentially drawing overflow crowds from Tokyo commuters for an electric regional vibe.
Ariake Arena: Waterfront Tokyo spot holding 15,000, recently hosted Inoue’s title defenses — a sleek, modern choice for intimate yet grand energy, with easy access to urban fans and potential for post-fight harbor celebrations.
Kokugikan Arena: Ryogoku’s 10,000-seat sumo shrine turned boxing hub — offers cultural gravitas for a “national treasure” matchup, blending tradition with high-stakes drama—unique for its historical echoes of Olympic combat events.
Yokohama Arena: Port city’s 17,000-capacity dome, primed for southern Japan hype — its proximity to international ports could attract global streams, turning the bout into a coastal export of boxing’s rising Asian dynasty.
That’s just give potential options but there’s plenty more.
Not only in Japan but in the East as well.
The fight itself would put together two of Japan’s best ever boxers and certainly in Inoue an all time great against one of the current best boxers of the last decade from Japan in Nakatani.
Speed, fury, precision, skill and power will all fly and ignite it it happens.
Big for professional sport as well in the East — Inoue vs Nakatani is an instant vintage fight for boxing if it takes place.
