Canelo Alvarez has broken his silence after losing to Terence Crawford in one of the great fights in boxing and professional sport history and then some.
It was one of the greatest occasions for all of professional boxing and all of professional sport of the 21st century.
The commercial powerhouses involved and blue chip corporations, coupled with the achievement of Crawford and the fight being great, made what the fighters did better than any Olympics or World Cup in the 21st century.
Canelo Alvarez Breaks Silence After Terence Crawford Defeat
After the bout Alvarez said on social media (Spanish to English translation):
“I’m very proud of everything I’ve accomplished so far; you always want to win, but I accept this defeat with humility and learning.
I am very grateful to my team for all the sacrifices we have made together all these years.
I already won because I have my family with me and millions of fans who have never stopped supporting me
Finally, thanks to Fernanda, my wife; for her patience and not letting go of my hand during this whole process.
Viva Mexico you motherf******!”
A class act as always.
Alvarez can fight on if he wants or have one last one and call it a day, that is up to him.
Whether that would be at super-middleweight or middleweight remains to be seen.
He’s fought the best and beaten the best over the years.
Mexico is lucky to have him.
