Professional boxing is known as the hurt business and motivation is clearly an important aspect to the sport for its brave participants.
If there is no desire to train or prepare for fights, then it is the wrong sport to be in. Too dangerous.
Carl Froch in his prime was a man who loved his job and you could tell by the quality of his work. Particularly a little later in his career.
He had huge wins over the likes of George Groves, knocking him out in the rematch in front of 80,000 people at Wembley.
Froch and Groves getting the stadium shows going in the beginning really in Europe after the second world war, certainly in the UK in terms of the big sell outs.
You could say the Klitschkos got them going in Germany before they did but nowhere near the 80,000 capacities and so on, Froch and Groves got that going again for boxing.

Speaking on his podcast ‘Froch on Fighting’ – Carl Froch said he turned down a GGG and Chavez fight near the end of his career:
“I don’t mention it much, in case you didn’t know, but I was offered a lot of money to fight Julio César Chávez Jr. I was offered money to fight Gennady Golovkin.”
He mentioned his desire for the sport had gone by that point so stayed retired.
Chavez Jr actually boxed Jake Paul not long ago in a professional cruiserweight fight — years later.

Froch now hosts a successful podcast and has other interests outside of boxing.
Froch has been linked with a fight against Darren Till as well recently.
