Nonito Donaire is one of the greatest Filipino fighters ever and recently staged a highly successful comeback to boxing at an advanced age.
When no one thought it were possible.
Not only that, he won at the age of 42 near the highest level of professional boxing again.
A big fight in the news now is of course pound for pound star Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis taking on Jake Paul next up live on Netflix on November 14th.
Nonito Donaire Reacts To Gervonta Davis vs Jake Paul
Speaking to Fight Hype earlier ‘The Filipino Flash’ said of the fight and Jake Paul:
“Jake has a dedication that you’ve rarely seen in a fighter in a long time. He has learned so much as a fighter that he knows how to throw the jab, and he possesses a lot of power.”
Complimentary there from Donaire on Jake Paul. On the whole ‘Tank’ vs Jake Paul event he mentioned that boxing exists as part of a wider entertainment industry now. As regards exhibitions but also, the WWE, the UFC now promoting boxing as well to add to what he mentions, as well as many MMA fighters fighting in pro boxing, and bareknuckle boxing taking off (BFKC). Boxing is leading the way in many aspects as a sport.
Crucially though, these fights and ‘events’ are great for boxing bringing in the new generation, the younger audience and new demographics to continue to expand the sport rapidly.
With the caveat what is most important for boxing is world championship professional boxing matches between the best fighting the best on a regular basis (the same as the UFC). A combination of all this will continue to see professional boxing take off more and more as its commercial success goes to new levels never seen before in the entire sport’s history — with continued new major blue-chip corporations and partners in boxing, and official State partners being onboarded and partnering with us successfully. The worldwide vision for professional boxing is coming along quickly now. There is no limits for boxing. The sky is the limit.
