Typically fight negotiations and details of financial splits and offers are not done over social media by promoter, boxers or their teams.
But there has been a slight break in the norm in that in this one.
Vergil Ortiz Jr is considered one of the best prospects in all of America and worldwide professional boxing at the moment.
Xander Zayas Reveals Financial Split Of Vergil Ortiz Fight Offer
He’s in talks to fight Xander Zayas next up and revealed the following on X:
Here was Ortiz’ reply:
“What is exactly is so unfavorable about the offer? It’s 50/50. You have time to recover and train for December. And it would be in neutral territory. Don’t run away now, you’ve had 3 days to agree and we haven’t heard a thing from your side!”
Alas, this is the professional fight business and people often seek conflict and confrontations head on directly.
That is totally normal and standard business practice.
However what is not normal is for this to be done on social media.
Xander Zayas is from Puerto Rico and is undefeated at the moment (22-0-13 KO).
So the fight is huge with the undefeated Vergil Ortiz (23-0-21 KO) obviously — who is a Mexican-American.
It will be a great fight.
