What Tko Boxing Can Learn From Mayweather Vs Mcgregor For Canelo Vs Crawford

The Mayweather vs McGregor boxing event has been some years ago now but there’s still some parallels that can be drawn shortly next month.

Ahead of the Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford super fight on September 13th.

Sure, the events were at a different time for the pay per view market but at the same time, both are crossover events in some ways.

Canelo vs Crawford for the first time sees the UFC and Dana White (and WWE wrestling by the way) promote a big time boxing fight.

So the UFC and MMA audiences, and boxing audiences, are converging more than ever again.

There’s some things there.

They should expect some technical difficulties in terms of the Netflix servers possibly being overloaded with traffic.

Plan accordingly for this and put the correct protocols in place as well as in live time on the night.

Another thing, that worked well for Mayweather vs McGregor was this.

The organizers at the time brought in analysts from both the UFC (MMA) and boxing world.

They had Stephen A Smith of ESPN in the middle of Chael Sonnen of the UFC and Teddy Atlas of the boxing world.

The back and forth between Smith and Atlas was quite brilliant, but the analysis from a boxing and MMA perspective worked well.

Why not bring in Joe Rogan from the UFC on fight week for a day or two or even a few days to give his boxing analysis on Canelo vs Crawford?

It will bring more MMA and UFC fans to boxing and help the UFC and TKO as well?

It would build the fight nicely the week or two before as well, getting him to speak about or interview the fighters on his podcast.

You can’t better promotion that that.

In the words of Chael P. Sonnen’s podcast:

You’re welcome.
