Bernard ‘The Executioner’ witnessed a well executed hit by boxing sensation Shakur Stevenson in Queens New York this weekend.
He weathered many storms against Mexico’s brilliant brawler William Zepeda but took him apart down the stretch with accuracy and precision.
Bernard Hopkins Reacts To Shakur Stevenson Defeating Zepeda
Speaking to Fight Hype after the fight Bernard Hopkins said of the Shakur Stevenson win this weekend over Zepeda:
“He was so sensational. This was the toughest test of his career. You think of Shakur, and he really, you know, I think it was a test of his career whether he could put together a masterpiece, but I don’t think Shakur would agree with me.”
In many ways there was similarities from how Hopkins used to box a bit this weekend from Stevenson.
Stevenson showed a lot of patience in there but put more mustard on the shots as the bout went on.
Like Hopkins used to do, in terms of systematically taking away his opponents strengths in a fight and systematically breaking an opponent down.
And busting him up down the stretch.
Excellent strategy from Stevenson but he showed heart as well.
A boxer and a fighter.
A powerful combination in the sweet science in top flight world championship professional boxing.
Hopkins’ friend Oscar De La Hoya also gave big props to Stevenson this weekend.
