Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman recently had a successful comeback himself to the sport of boxing and knows one Manny Pacquiao quite well.
Pacquiao however is attempting a comeback at the age of 46 which is something not usually ever seen at world title level.
That said, Keith Thurman isn’t totally writing him off.
Keith Thurman Gives His Take On Manny Pacquiao vs Mario Barrios
Thurman who fought Pacquiao before told Fight Hype on the fight:
“I slightly lean toward Barrios. This fight feels like a passing of the torch moment. If Pacquiao loses, it signals the end of an era. No more Mayweather or Pacquiao. But if Pacquiao wins he’s back in the conversation.”
If Pacquiao wins he’s more than back in the conversation, he will be the new WBC welterweight champion of the world.
And the second oldest champion in history.
The fight is next weekend on July 19th in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao beat Thurman by split decision back in 2019 which at the time also made Pacquiao the oldest 147 pounder to win a major world title in boxing history.
Pacquiao is training like Rocky Balboa at the moment as seen here – he will need to be at his best to have a chance against Barrios.
