Trainer Breaks Silence On Deontay Wilder Split

Former WBC heavyweight champion of the world Deontay Wilder had a hugely successful comeback on Friday night in boxing.

Only a few days before that however Wilder had parted company with his old trainer, Malik Scott.

A surprise bit of news in boxing that took some off guard.

It was amicable however and speaking to Seconds Out earlier Scott said:

“No comment. I love Deontay, he’s my brother, and I’m proud of what he did last night. I don’t know what’s next for him. I know I’m happy where he’s at right now. He had one fight back. Let’s let him continue to build and then he’ll get to those big fights. I’m always going to go with Deontay Wilder (support him).”

Class act from Scott and the two obviously parted ways on a good note.

Wilder ultimately will fight on and he won by knockout this weekend and boxed well at times.

He will be sharper again next time, Wilder spoke on getting rid of ring rust after.
