Jake Paul has come on a bit since his professional boxing loss to Tommy Fury and offered some candid insight into the bout this weekend.
Fast forward a few years on he’s taking boxing more seriously and giving the sport respect with his training.
He won a wide easy unanimous points decision this weekend against former world champion Julio Caesar Chavez Jr.
Speaking afterwards this weekend at the official post fight presser Paul said:
“I don’t even think I was a fighter then—two and a half years into the sport, I didn’t know what I was doing. I didn’t have the proper team, conditioning, or lifestyle. My life outside the ring was still that of a YouTuber, celebrity, actor—whatever I was. I wasn’t fully focused on boxing. Tonight feels like chapter one’s done; we’re moving into chapter two. I’m just getting warmed up. People hold the Tommy Fury loss against me, but now I just beat a former world champion. I’ll avenge that loss with Tommy.”
Certainly Tommy Fury would still want that fight if it is available.
Tommy Fury returned to boxing after a bit of time away in recent months actually and won on points himself.
