Chavez Sr Brutally Honest On Son’s Defeat To Jake Paul

After losing a wide points decision to Jake Paul – Mexican legend Julio Caesar Chavez took a different view of the loss to Paul of his son.

His son didn’t have his best night certainly.

But Chavez senior was looking at it another way with brutal honesty from a life aspect, and he is quite right.

Speaking after the fight immediately Chavez senior said:

“Julio, well, Julio is a champion, and he is a champion because he overcame many challenges. Julio, yes, honestly, I feel proud, truly proud. After coming from such difficult and complicated years, stepping into the ring and defeating those demons—you understand me? Honestly, I feel happy and proud because he put up a good fight. You understand? He didn’t lose the fight; he gave it away in the early rounds, you understand, because in the last rounds, my son won. That was made very clear. But look, the main thing is that he’s healthy, clean from his struggles, and this is the beginning, the start of a rebirth, you understand? After so many years with that addiction, you understand, and returning to the ring after almost two years without fighting, honestly, I congratulate my son.”

Look, he got paid for the Jake Paul fight and managed to get back on the road to success.

Ultimately the card had other fights on it that were more action packed and also those fights brought in new fans to boxing.

So a win-win for boxing this weekend.
