After sharing the boxing ring with him Julio Caesar Chavez Jr gave an analysis of how hard Jake Paul hits and if he hurt him.
Ultimately Chavez Jr dropped a wide unanimous points decision loss to Jake Paul last night.
He had a few punches he landed later in the fight but Paul won by shut out.
After the fight asked if he was hurt by Jake Paul at any point by Paul’s power he shut that down completely:
“No, he said not hurt. I think with a body shot, right? Uh, he hit with a couple of clean shots, but I’m a strong guy. So, he’s a good boxer. Listen, you work very hard. I saw you from the first day in camp, and I think, yeah, very hard, but still feeling a distance a little bit. So, it’s my first fight in, uh, five—my second fight in five years. So, fight now, the cruise—I catch the punches, I feel good. I’m a leader, so I need like a couple, two more rounds. And I don’t know, I don’t think he won like eight rounds. I think he won six or seven rounds, and I won like three or four rounds.”
Chavez Jr also had some other unusual analysis of the fight here after.
Paul at cruiserweight probably doesn’t punch that hard but has enough pop on the shots to keep some opponents off.
How Paul did the weight is something he’ll have to look at in the division next time as well.
That late a weight cut is not a good idea and keeping down in weight between the fights is more advisable.
