Deontay Wilder After Comeback On Why Boxing Is Different To Every Sport

Wilder 3 3

Professional boxing is one of the only games you can get legally killed in like UFC, police, military and some other professions and so on.

It is an old saying the above but still very true.

The beating people up business is no joke.

Deontay Wilder got that done again this weekend on his comeback and did so within seven rounds, dropping his opponent multiple times before the end came.

Deontay Wilder After Comeback On Why Boxing Is Different To Every Sport

Speaking after the fight Deontay Wilder said:

“The game plan was just to stay calm, like we did, stay patient, you know, um, um, set up a couple of combinations, set up the, uh, set up punches, you know what I did, you know, uh, was pretty much the game plan. But, uh, they wanted to see me release a little bit more. Uh, we, we saw opportunities, but I didn’t take them, you know. And, um, that’s something that we’re going to go back and work on as well, you know. It’s a lot of things that I did right, and it was a lot of things that I could have done, um, right as well. But, um, you can’t do it all in one night, you know. Um, it takes time, and especially in this business because as a fighter, we got to think offense, defense, we got to think all right, if he throw this punch, how we counter. It’s so many things as a fighter you have to think about at one time while being in the ring. That’s why we’re the, we’re, we’re up at 1%, that’s why you don’t see people just running to box and do this, you know what I mean. They playing football, they playing basketball, but they playing soccer, they playing golf, they playing tennis, ain’t nobody coming and do this because you don’t play boxing. So, you know, God is good.”

He is right, Wilder got the ring rust off this weekend as well.

With respect to other professional sports, while accidents do happen, you don’t play boxing or UFC, clearly.

Wilder and his opponent both came away from the fight healthy by all accounts to live to fight another day.

You don’t get paid for over time in boxing.
