A well respected reporter in boxing and former ESPN reporter has had some remarks go viral on social media about Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis.
Dan Rafael has been around professional boxing for a long time and he doesn’t get everything right, like everyone, but he knows his stuff on the sweet science.
Brian Norman the WBO welterweight champion had a huge knockout win in Japan this week and Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis the WBC champion decided to move up in weight.
Reporter Tears Jaron Boots Ennis To Pieces
Speaking on the X app Rafael said of the decision:
“So Ennis made deal with Vergil Ortiz at 54 then reneged by insisting 47. Had big offer for 140 champ Teo but wouldn’t take it despite no big fight set. Then announced going to 54 day before Norman scores huge KO. Ennis 147 “legacy” at 47 is beating Stanionis. But generational!!!”
A lot of people agreed with Rafael on the above.
Jaron Ennis is a heck of a fighter and champion though, maybe welterweight is just not the right weight anymore.
He’s also stepping up in weight which is never an easy thing to do, for balance.
Ryan Garcia has been putting the boot on Ennis as well lately.
Ennis is clearly doing something right in America at the moment.
Eddie Hearn and Matchroom were spot on to stick with him.
