Deontay Wilder Reveals A Transformed Mind Ahead Of Comeback Fight

Many talk the talk but few walk the walk, WBC heavyweight champion of the world Deontay Wilder has walked the walk many times in boxing and life.

He is still to this day the hardest hitting man that ever walked this Earth with one single punch.

Fights he lost he went out on his shield in. That’s all you can ask from fighters.

He genuinely seems in an unbelievable mental space at the moment ahead of his comeback next week.

Deontay Wilder Reveals A Transformed Mind Ahead Of Comeback Fight

Speaking to Ariel Helwani ahead of the fight Wilder said:

“This Deontay is more at peace—mentally, physically, and emotionally. Before, I did a lot for others, often selflessly, taking care of many people. But you can only do so much for so long before it becomes unappreciated. Time and situations helped me realize it was time to let some things go. Now, I’m selfish. For the first time, it’s all about me—having fun and enjoying myself. That freedom means I’m not worried about letting anyone down or making mistakes. If something goes wrong, it’s on me to decide whether to continue or not. It feels like a breeze now, like sitting outside enjoying the air. That’s the big difference.”

Wilder is some years removed from his epic battles with Tyson Fury now and has more wisdom and time on his side and some rest too.

He will have been able to analyze his fights at this point but more than anything he’s in a great place.

Enjoying his fights again.

Wilder fights next Friday night on June 27th.
