Carl Frampton On The Horrible Boxing Business And The Rise Of Influencer Boxing

Influencer and celebrity boxing is not only growing as a trend in recent years but it is clearly here to stay, not limited to just celebrities either.

Sure, Jake Paul is the most well known in it all but more retired former world champion boxers and current and former MMA and UFC fighters are continuing to fight in pro boxing now.

Because boxing is doing that well, that’s why, former UFC champion Holly Holm another one who is returning to fight in pro boxing again soon.

Carl Frampton On The Horrible Boxing Business And The Rise Of Influencer Boxing

Speaking to former world champion Carl Frampton of Belfast spoke on the whole thing while speaking to the folks at the Business of Sport:

“Boxing is a horrible, horrible business. It’s full of crooks and people trying to take advantage of individuals like myself who lack business acumen. A lot of people get involved in boxing who have no right to be there. I see so many around us attached to young fighters but with no experience in the game. I don’t think this happens in any other sport. You have to separate influencer boxing from real boxing, and I know boxers who say it would harm the sport, but it’s just bringing in a new audience—a generation of kids who would never have watched a fight in their lives. What annoys me is when influencers top the bill, and you’ve got legitimate world champions on the undercard.”

Frampton has a lot of experience as a fighter in boxing in all aspects.

Outside of Jake Paul’s MVP Promotions, young fighters have to be careful with these smaller new influencer companies only around the last year or two, and so on, only getting into boxing now.

Trying to take advantage of how well boxing is doing right now and of all the success boxing brings with it now and in the time ahead.

Some of their events have been good, some of the KSI events have worked well, some not so good though.

In general, stick with the big promoters and big companies only is our advise to young fighters.

The small guys and small companies can’t take the hits when the going gets tough, the big guys always can.

Always stick with the big companies in commercial dealings for fighters speaking to TV companies, promoters, management companies and streaming companies, stay away from the small guys, the small people and small companies.

But fighters will do what they want of course.

That’s why their fighters at the end of the day.

They are a cut from a different cloth.

The ones that make it to world champion level in pro boxing cut from an even more special cloth again.

Very few of those real fighting men in society.

They are a special bunch world champions.

Good luck to any young fighters turning pro genuinely pursing the world title.
