Filipino Kingpin and eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao has not just helped poor people, people and the country of the Philipennes directly over the years.
Oh no, he’s done much more than that. His boxing career and him being him, as helped the country indirectly hugely, on a worldwide basis, maybe more than some Filipinos realize yet, worth billions to the country.
The power of Pacquiao is a thing in the East and West that is only maybe comparable to someone like Mike Tyson, Canelo Alvarez and Floyd Mayweather, in terms of brand and other things, when it comes to boxers and their power.
Manny Pacquiao At 2025 Boxing Hall Of Fame Speaks On Importance Of The Philippines
He is formally inducted into the 2025 International Boxing Hall of Fame tonight in New York and speaking to Fight Hub ahead of it ‘Pacman’ said:
“I’m happy that I’m the reason why the Philippines is on the map of the world because of my accomplishments. Also, not only me but there are a lot of celebrities or popular athletes who give names to our country. But what I have done in boxing put the Philippines on the world map. It’s an honor, and it’s my legacy. I hope that my countrymen, the Filipino people, will also be proud of it. I hope that in their hearts they treasure those achievements and blessings from God.”
Pacquiao is an active fighter and is being inducted, and gets to fight for a world title soon at 46 after not really boxing in years.
Usually this doesn’t happen.
Some people do get to skip the queue in life however — as they earned the right to.
He’s one of them.
Well deserved.
It would be good to see Pacquiao stay involved this year and next too in promotion of boxing in places like Japan and Asia as a whole.
