Mario Barrios Reveals The Moment He Learned He Was Fighting Boxing Legend Manny Pacquiao

Eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao will be inducted into the 2025 Boxing Hall of Fame this weekend, something few ever get into.

Not to mention even fewer active fighters, usually you have to be retired or dead for five years at least to be considered.

Heavy enough stuff some will those criteria, but you know, appropriate, it should be that hard and a limited club to get into.

Pacquiao will look to become the second oldest world champion in history on July 19th in Las Vegas when he challenges WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios.

Speaking ahead of the fight to Fight Hub, Barrios opened up on the moment he learned he was fighting literally a living legend:

“Even then, I was just stunned, like, what the heck? I mean, of course I would, but yeah, fast forward a few months later. So why did you say “what the heck”? Well, because it was Pacquiao. I knew he was retired, and it just wasn’t a fight I had ever really thought about or pictured unfolding in my head. Then, around March, I got the word that we were going to start working on this for real, all the details, and I was like, oh damn, this is really happening. Okay, cool, let’s get it.”

Barrios comes across as a level headed, balanced individual but a very, very serious professional hitman when it comes to his job and what he does.

Battering people and taking people out of the equation in the sport of boxing.

He’s a ferocious fighter and Pacquiao knows it, Pacquiao is a big underdog next month.

Well done to Pacquiao this weekend on the Hall of Fame, well deserved.
