Teofimo Lopez Gets Real On Why Devin Haney Fight Collapsed For Now

Some people jumped the gun recently saying Devin Haney vs Teofimo Lopez was official and a done deal when it clearly was and is not.

Haney got on the X platform not long ago to say as much.

Now Lopez has spoken on the fight, which for now, has seemingly collapsed.

Speaking to Fight Hub, Teofimo Lopez kept it real on the situation with the fight seemingly not happening for now:

“This is about the uneven playing field. I did my part in New York at Times Square, promoting His Excellency’s show. He did a great job hosting, but we took it over. Then, I got shortchanged on fight contracts two and three through no fault of my own. Haney and Garcia didn’t perform as needed—that’s not my fault. I got discredited for someone else’s faults. His Excellency didn’t speak to me about my performance. To be frank, we didn’t even get to go back into the arena. He’s doing his part, hosting many things, but I did the most and showed the most. They showed Haney and Bill Haney afterward, not me. I think a lot of this is intertwined. Tank said Turki Alalshikh called Haney his guy. If Haney is his guy and they want me to go there, it feels like I’m meant to lose. The only way I’d win is by knockout, and Tank, a knockout artist, said the same.”

There’s a lot going on there.

The fight is not totally dead for now, Lopez has just turned the latest offer down that’s all.

Hopefully they can give him a proper offer or he’ll just keep walking away.

Only big money and big fights is what interests or motivates or creates any motivation or urgency to have discipline for Teofimo Lopez, that is a fact.

It’s all about the big fights for him, he raises his game when they happen.

It is still a great fight if it can be made, don’t write it off yet from happening.
