Ryan Garcia is known to have one of the best left hooks in the game but recently the punch could not land like he wanted it to against Romero.
In a shock defeat where Rolly Romero scored an upset and beat Garcia by UD.
Speaking to Fight Hub recently, new world champion Rolly Romero said:
“I neutralized it. The second he threw one left hook, what happened? He got dropped. He never threw it again because, like I said, the only reason he didn’t get knocked out cold is because he didn’t throw it at all. He didn’t even take a single risk. He fought to survive at that point. He tried in the third round to keep going a little bit, but he realized the second he opened up, he was going to get knocked out.”
Good insight there into something Bernard Hopkins mentioned years ago.
How often taking away a guy’s best punch can be effective to breaking him down in a fight.
Not necessarily putting your own signature punches together to over power his best punches, but to find ways to take him apart piece by piece, first.
