Pacman 2

Remarkably eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao will now fight for the world title this summer after a year of talks about the fight.

It is now been widely reported by Mike Coppinger of Ring Magazine that Pacquiao will face Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title on July 19th in Las Vegas.

A date this summer that now promises much quality boxing action as well.

Here’s some of the reaction from the boxing world to the news early on:

Mixed response so far from boxing fans.

Manny Pacquiao is currently quite busy on all fronts but will need to start at least a six to eight week training camp full time in boxing in the next week or two.

Expect him to do that too. Expect to hear from him soon.

If Pacquiao were to beat Barrios he’d become the second oldest boxing champion in history after George Foreman.

Bernard Hopkins at 49 holding the record.
