There has been some unconfirmed reports of this online but the concept and logic of it seems to very sound, it works in UFC, why not boxing?
Soon, TKO Boxing headed by Turki Alalshikh in the East and Dana White the boss of UFC in the West, have their first major boxing promotion with Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford in September.
This is the first time White and the UFC will be properly in boxing, they offer fighters performance bonuses when fighters knock out their opponents in the UFC.
Going into the fight, Crawford is a big underdog, could he, say, get incentivized to knock out or TKO Canelo inside the 12 rounds with a large bonus of a $100 million?
It is unlikely he can knock out Canelo, but imagine how much better a fight it will make it?
The same can be said for Canelo of course, too.
Even the idea of it seems great.
Boxing can do with more of this and is key to further growing the sport as well.
Sure, still have big fight purses but make them even more with bonuses on top of the purses and on top of the pay per view and streaming, sponsorship and all event revenue cuts for the fighters too.
