People were quick to throw Ryan Garcia under the bus after the Romero loss but he was dealing with a year layoff and his mother having cancer.
The fight was terrible and Rolly Romero deserved to win the contest on points via UD like he did.
That said, Garcia’s post fight reaction was class:
“First want to Thank God for everything in every situation, I couldn’t do it tonight, I’m devastated and really sad that I fought the way I did. I just didn’t have it tonight felt off I fought a lot to get here, as you know what I went thru last year was something a lot of people don’t come back from So I can see a victory for me in that Congratulations to Rollies, Hell of a dude and great hearted person wish you nothing but the best. I love you all and thank you for everything.”
Garcia is a class act and a true champion.
He will be back. No doubt about that.
The ring rust will be out of system as well next up.
As well, he went straight back in at world title level, which is no joke, particularly with how competitive the sport is now pound for pound.
