Terence Crawford Trainer Reacts To Canelo Fight Being Made Official

Terence Crawford will once again attempt to make the impossible possible in professional sport in a fight for the ages next up vs Canelo.

Canelo Alvarez is one of the great fighters of these times, no question.

So is Crawford.

Speaking to MillCity Boxing, Crawford’s respected trainer Bomac said of landing the Canelo Alvarez fight:

“I’m excited for the fight for the simple fact that in our first big fight, they doubted us, and we got it done. Now we want to step up two or three weight classes, and they say, “That’s the stupidest thing to do.” Obviously, we believe in ourselves because we’re taking that challenge. If we didn’t, we wouldn’t do it. When people tell Bud, or especially me as a trainer, “You can’t do that,” it makes me work harder. It makes me pull things out we haven’t used in the last couple of fights—routines we haven’t done, things I haven’t said. It makes me go back and search my notebooks, the things I’ve written down for the last 15 years of what we’ve worked on. I do my homework. It’s not just about being in the gym—you’ve got to do your homework with a guy like this. That dude is good—really good. Me and Bud sit down at the table, he slides this over to me and says, “We’ve got to get this done.” I say, “Alright, let’s get it done.” He’s trusting in me, in Saul, Red, Bernie, Chad, Ashley, the nutritionist, the doctors—everybody to get him ready to the point where he goes in with 100% confidence. He’s already confident in himself, but he’ll be 100% confident that his team has him prepared to do what he needs to do. What he needs to do is what we ask him in the corner—it’s real simple.”

Always insightful from Bomac, a great story over the years with Crawford and some great loyalty both men have shown to one another throughout the journey.

It is not over yet and Crawford and Bomac will now put together a fight plan for the biggest fight of their lives next up.

September 12th is the big one in Vegas when the fight goes down.
