Former Canelo Alvarez opponent Dmitry Bivol knows the Mexican well having shared the boxing ring with him not long ago in the sport.
Bivol, the undisputed light-heavyweight champion of the world, beat Alvarez on UD when he stepped up to fight him at 175 pounds back in 2022.
Speaking to Fight Hub TV a short time ago, Bivol said of Canelo’s win tonight over William Scull will not be like his upcoming fight with Terence Crawford next:
“I think Crawford wants this fight a lot, and he will be more active than Canelo’s previous opponent. He has a different mentality—a champion mentality. I think the fight will be much more interesting. I think Crawford won’t let Canelo just walk around the ring whenever he wants. In this fight, Canelo did everything he wanted; when he wanted to rest, he could rest easily. Of course, when he wanted to work, that guy didn’t give him any work, just rest. I think with Crawford, it will be harder for Canelo to rest.”
The show goes and a victorious Canelo roll on next to September’s big fight against Terence Crawford.
It is understood at the moment Bivol is in final talks to make the Artur Beterbiev trilogy fight happen (most likely) next up in 2025.
