Conor Benn Trainer Reacts To Weight Controversy In Eubank Jr Fight

Chris Eubank Jr missed weight at weigh-ins but the weight in general against Conor Benn has been a big theme coming into the fight tomorrow.

In that, people are concerned Eubank Jr has too much of a size advantage over Conor Benn.

Not the case necessarily, though.

Speaking to Ring Magazine, renowned UK trainer of Conor Benn, Tony Sims, commented:

“I don’t understand why people say Eubank is “coming down” to 160. He’s fought at 160 for his last five fights, which is his natural middleweight division for most of his career. So, I don’t get what they’re talking about. Conor’s natural fighting weight is 147. He had a couple of non-title fights at 150, where you can weigh in at whatever you want. After the Eubank fight, he’ll drop back to 147 because that’s his natural weight. Eubank’s been at 160, so I don’t see the issue people are raising.”

Some very good points by Sims as always.

The thing is, as well, Benn will be fresh and primed tomorrow for the fight.

Well rested.

Eubank Jr on the other hand not so much.

This has become a much more even fight now then bookies or anyone else first thought.
