Saunders knows Chris Eubank Jr well having beaten him back in 2014 and eleven years on Eubank Jr is in another big fight tomorrow.
He fights Conor Benn but has to try to weigh in again in the morning inside the middleweight limit of 160 pounds, after missing weight at two attempts earlier on.
Speaking to Kugan Cassius of IFL TV earlier, former middleweight champion of the world Billy Joe Saunders said of the missed weight today:
“It shows he’s really struggling with the weight. We saw this in his fight with Liam Smith—that’s why he got knocked out the first time. The weight was a big factor then, and it’s clearly the same now at 160. It’s thrown a big wrench into Eubank’s plans. With only a 10-pound rehydration limit, he’s struggling. If he rehydrates with fluids alone, he’ll gain that much, but he still has to eat three or four meals tomorrow. That’s the killer in a situation like this. Conor Benn has jumped up two weight classes, but the 10-pound clause, especially with Eubank coming in over, has worked in Conor’s favor.”
Good points from Saunders.
It will be telling to what happens in the morning in terms of how he does the weight again.
If he misses again he could be forced to hand over a million dollars.
Lots going on for Eubank Jr tonight.
Benn on the other hand can put his feet up and relax, and will be rested.
