Hall of Fame Boxing Trainer Dead At 84

Hall Of Fame Boxing Trainer Dead

One of the great old school Hall of Fame boxing trainers has died at the age of 84 years old.

Kenny Adams the Hall of Famer who trained 25 world champions in total in the amateurs and pros has passed away.

Adams has been noted as one of the great trainers of his time for his ability to churn out world champions in both the amateurs and the pros.

Something that very, very few ever do.

He got started with training by training the US military team and was known for his discipline and unique methods.

He appeared to be a good man management guy who understood how to play to an athlete’s different strengths, which differ in every fighter.

He coached the legendary US Olympic 1984 boxing team that had Evander Holyfield, Whitaker, Taylor, Tyrell Biggs, Mark Breland and Virgil Hill as part of it.

Then he coached the great 1988 team for the US at the Olympics that included Ray Mercer, Roy Jones Jr, Riddick Bowe, Kennedy McKinney and Michael Carbajal.

In the pros he had some great success with the likes of Vince Philips, Michael Nunn, Johnny Tapia, Mike McCallum and Ruslan Chagaev.

Adams was also a Vietnam veteran who successfully made it out of Vietnam alive and survived many attempts on his life.

It is understood Adams had struggled with PTSD for some time (post traumatic stress disorder).

Everyone at Boxing News and Views passes on our condolences to his loved ones, those in America and those in boxing that knew him.

RIP.
