Terence Crawford On Tank: He Can’t Even Tie My Shoestrings

Terence Crawford On Tank

There looks like a little heat recently between two of America’s current best boxers pound for pound.

That’s Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis. Due to the weight difference fight is very unlikely.

Speaking to The Ring — Crawford said about Davis recently:

“What have I ever hated on Tank about? There’s nothing to hate on him about. When you compare our careers, it’s night and day. He can’t even tie my shoestrings. To call me a hater is crazy. I’ve never hated on him. I’ve always supported him, watched his fights, never said he couldn’t fight. When you go back, Tank came at me first. I never said anything about him. He said I had a glass chin, that if he touched my chin, I’d go to sleep. He’s the one who started this—this beef, disagreement, whatever you want to call it—because I was coming up to fight Spence. He was the one saying my name. I never said anything about him. So who’s really the hater?”

Some heavy stuff there going between the two recently.

Crawford later in the chat with The Ring went on to open up about his upcoming likely Canelo Alvarez fight (if Alvarez beats William Scull in May):

“My thought process about moving up two more divisions is doing something that’s never been done before. When you hear the media and experts talk, they always say you’ve never seen a smaller great fighter beat a bigger great fighter. Hearing all the things surrounding the talks of Crawford going up to fight Canelo is intriguing. “He’s bigger, he’s stronger, he’s the most powerful fighter”—these are the same things they said about Spence. We all know what Canelo brings to the table. We know he went up to 175. But we don’t know how Crawford can compete with Canelo. We’ve never seen Crawford at this weight, never seen him take a punch from a bigger guy like Canelo. We know Crawford can box, we know he can move, but can he take a punch from Canelo? They’ll say, “We saw him hurt by Gamboa at 135, hurt by Mean Machine”—which I don’t believe I was hurt by, but that’s the narrative. “What’s he going to do when Canelo hits him?” That’s what’s intriguing.”

Crawford is clearly a very smart man outside of boxing and away from professional sport.

There is no doubt about that.

A deep thinker and good chess player, the Canelo fight if it happens will take everything he has and then some.

Canelo is not underestimating him either — which will put Crawford up against it if this super event happens in September pending Canelo beating Scull.
