Recently beat Artur Beterbiev in their rematch which delivered a spectacular fight once again in the ring.
Now calls have come for a possible Bivol vs David Benavidez super fight at 175 lbs. The two have faced off in the ring privately before it has now emerged.
Speaking to Fight Hype earlier ‘The Monster’ Benavidez said:
“Yeah, it was good. We sparred a lot, so it was a good sparring session, you know. With these top-tier fighters, they do a lot. The thing about them is they’re able to adapt to anything. So even with me and him, I would figure some of his stuff out, and then he would adapt to that. Then he’d do some stuff to me, and I’d adapt to that. So, you know, the best of both of us was seen in those sparring sessions. But, you know, there were times where I got the best of him, you know what I mean? That’s why I know I’d beat him. But we’re not going in there too confident—we know we have to be extremely ready in training camp and prepare accordingly. Absolutely. But I definitely have confidence in myself that I’d beat him if he decides to go that route and do a third fight with B.”
Good mentality there from Benavidez as he knows sparring is just sparring and both are better fighters nowadays.
What a fight it promises to be.
A Bivol vs Beterbiev trilogy is also in play however for later this year.
