One round in particular in David Benavidez vs David Morrell proved to be an action packed one.
In many ways. Round 11 that is.
Morrell dropped Benavidez but then at the end of the round had a point docked by the referee for hitting after the bell.
Speaking after the fight Morrell said:
“The ref did his job I didn’t agree with it but it is in the past, and you got to move on.”
Ultimately Benavidez won the fight anyway by unanimous points decision.
Morrell really impressed not just boxing but the wider sports world tonight in what was an outstanding night for boxing in America — amazing fights.
Stephen Fulton regained the world title against the odds and Pitbull Cruz of Mexico, Mexico’s favorite, had a win for the ages in another genuine early fight of the year contender.
Amazon when they see the numbers on this, the quality of action, how it lifted America in a time where it needed lifting, with such an outstanding boxing event tonight for the country, will be quietly very impressed not just with boxing as a sport and an offering tonight on their Amazon Prime platform, and most importantly with the fighters, but with PBC too of course.
