There was a knockdown in the 11th round in favor of Morrell against David Benavidez — here Benavidez senior reacts to it below.
Many disputed the knockdown among boxing fans after the fight.
Speaking after the bout Benavidez Sr told Fight Hype:
“You know, I got to go watch it. In my opinion, I think it was more like he was out of balance, but that’s exciting, you know? When somebody, like David, is winning the whole fight and then he kind of gets dropped, it’s exciting. People go, ‘Whoa!’ If I was watching at home, I’d be like, ‘Damn!’ And then I look at him, and he’s standing up, smiling like, ‘Come on.’ I got scared, you know? So, I think Morrell was like, ‘What the…?’ So, I think these are the kind of fights that the fans deserve; they want to be entertained. It can’t just be one-sided; you’ve got to get hit back. And seeing David’s face, he came and brought it, you know? That’s why they call him the Mexican Monster.”
He certainly is a monster fighter.
Very good fighter Benavidez who is only improving at the moment too all the time, don’t forget that.
