Carl Froch Reacts To Calls For Deontay Wilder To Retire

Deontay Wilder To Retire

Deontay Wilder to retire calls have come from many quarters since his loss to Zhang by knockout in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to Talk Sport former world champion Carl Froch said:

“I think Deontay Wilder is well past his best. He looked shaky on his legs from the start. He paws with that jab. He looks like he’s loading up the right hand. Does he still think he can knock people out with that right hand in one punch? I don’t know if he does. He lacks belief.”

He added:

“And now that punch is gone. As well as the punch resistance. I think it’s definitely time for Deontay Wilder to retire. I don’t think there can be an argument to say he had a bad day. Because Joseph Parker beat him in a bit of stinker and now he’s been wiped out by Zhang who’s lost 4 of his last 5 years. So now is the time to call curtains on your career.”

Strong comments from Froch.

Ultimately the decision will be Wilder’s and Wilder’s alone.

What a tremendous career he has had all the same.
