The boxing world continues to react to Saturday night’s superb display from IBF welterweight world champion Errol Spence.
Spence scored a unanimous points decision win over Mikey Garcia in front of a partisan crowd in Texas.
A bout that really solidified him as one of the top, top fighters in the sport today.
One boxing fan who was impressed was none other than WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.
Speaking to Behind The Gloves and a group of reporters after tonight’s fight back stage Wilder said:
“I love Errol Spence. I love his mindset as a champion. His vision on where he wants to go in his division is amazing. He has so much passion for the sport and the boxing IQ he has. I love watching him fight. On the other hand you have Mikey who came up two weight divisions tonight. There’s no losers tonight. Because when you come up two divisions and when you do that, and not only you fight, the best in the division. The bogey man. He got my respect. It was an amazing fight tonight.”
Wilder is expected to make an announcement this coming Tuesday for his own next fight against mandatory contender Dominic Breazeale as well as clarifying what network in the US will show his fights on moving forward.
As for Spence, big things await next up and a bout with Manny Pacquiao looks to be the front runner for his next opponent at present.
