Anthony Joshua Promoter Reacts To Deontay Wilder Saying He’s A Free Agent

Promoter of Anthony Joshua, Eddie Hearn has warmed to the news this week that WBC heavyweight champion of the world Deontay Wilder reportedly said he is a free agent for his fights in terms of what TV network they are shown on.

Wilder’s fights had previously been shown on Showtime for the last number of years but following news that lineal champion Tyson Fury has joined ESPN this week — Wilder confirmed that he is a free agent and not for fans to worry about the fight not being able to get made.

At the same time, what Wilder also said has huge implications for a possible fight between him and Anthony Joshua, too.

The prospects of a unification between the two seem more positive again and upon hearing of Wilder’s remarks, promoter of Joshua, Eddie Hearn told members of the media this week for Wilder to contact him and that he’s willing to offer him a new deal.

Hearn also confirmed that he reached out to Wilder personally to say he has not been getting any responses to attempted communications with Wilder’s management.

Interesting times.
