In a relatively time for the sport at the moment as we come towards the end of the first month of the year, WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman makes his return to the boxing tonight at the Barclays Centre in New York.

The comeback marks a prolonged period away from boxing of nearly two years due to multiple injuries that have taken some time to heal.

Perhaps one of the biggest questions tonight will surround how will Thurman’s body hold up to the unforgiving rigors of professional boxing and how much ring rust will he have.

He hasn’t exactly been giving a completely easy touch either in his first fight back to the ring in nearly two years.

Josesito Lopez represents a tricky test in the grand scheme of things when you consider Thurman’s been out for so long.

Most of Lopez’ defeats have only come to top level opposition in the sport.

That said, Thurman is the heavy favorite in most people’s eyes going into the bout in tonight’s boxing action.
