Cuban boxing great Guillermo Rigondeaux returns to the ring tonight after going very under the radar in recent times and signing with Al Haymon to join forces with Premier Boxing Champions stable.
‘Rigo’ came unstuck last year for the first time as a professional (17-1-11KO) but against only the best and a much bigger man in the form of Vasyl Lomachenko.
Since then, not a whole lot has really been heard or seen of the Cuban boxing maestro.
That said, even at his advanced age now, he still has enough skill and ability to beat plenty of top fighters in the sport if he still has the desire to do so.

No doubt a tactical ploy with the new Fox deal for the PBC to get plenty of eyeballs following tonight’s NFL playoff between the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles as a run in before the boxing.
It’s a move that’s worked well in the past and I’d be expecting very good numbers for tonight’s boxing once again as a consequence of this clever cross promoting of the sweet science with other sports in the US.

The fight will mark the first fight for Premier Boxing Champions on ITV (free to air in the UK) and will be shown on ITV 4 on TV and via ITV Hub for those wanting to watch it on demand after.
In terms of fight time coverage of tonight’s fights for those in the UK won’t get underway until 1am on Monday morning which works out at about 5pm on the West coast and 8pm tonight in the East but make sure to check your local listings.
