Carl Froch Makes Bold Claim About Canelo Fighting At Super-Middleweight

At one time Carl Froch was considered one of the best super-middleweights in the world.

A man who did things the hard way in his career, people often forget that the success he enjoyed didn’t really come until near the end of his professional tenure.

A fighter who never ducked anyone and at one point went on a mad run of fighting some of the biggest names at 168lbs back to back for years on the spin.

Speaking to UncleBoxingTV this week — Froch after seeing Canelo Alvarez fight up at super-middleweight last weekend to beat Rocky Fielding in three rounds said:

“I think Canelo is too small for super-middleweight. At 5’8 he’s not big enough. I think Callum Smith beats him at super-middleweight.”

168lbs champion Callum Smith is considered the best super-middleweight from the UK now by many and was linked with a fight against Canelo Alvarez earlier this week.

Time will tell if he gets the fight but it appears Danny Jacobs is the front runner at the moment for a fight with Canelo.

Back at the middleweight limit too.
