Adrien Broner has a little over eight weeks to lose what some believe could be over 30 pounds in weight to get down to welterweight (147lbs) for his world title challenge against Manny Pacquiao.
He’ll make the weight alright but the big question is will it take up the focus of much of his training camp between now and then.
Perhaps he’s going to go on a crash diet these next three weeks and hit the cardio hard in a bid to shed some of it quickly so he can leave the last five weeks while still focusing on conditioning — more about the actual fight, his sparring and technique work.
Technique could prove key if he’s to beat Pacquiao but Broner is not worried and has warned Pacquiao he’s got plenty support of his own as well:
Strong words from Broner but the proof will be in the eating of the pudding, as they say.
The fight takes place on January 19th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas live on Showtime pay per view.
