Former Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum has drawn a line on his relationship with the Filipino boxer and has had some closing comments on the Mayweather rematch.
Whatever happens from here on out nothing will ever take away the memories and success both Arum and Pacquiao enjoyed together.
A great story looking back on it.
Speaking to Fight Hub the Hall of Fame promoter said of Manny and his plans to rematch Mayweather:
“I love Manny Pacquiao, it’s an opportunity for him to make some money (the Mayweather rematch) so I’m not going to diminish him by saying that he should retire or that he’s too old. That’s up to him. He’s been a great, great fighter and if he wants to stick around and have another payday with Mayweather God love him, okay. But as far as Top Rank and myself is concerned, that ship has sailed. We’ve got young fighters that need our attention now, elite fighters, not that Manny wasn’t an elite fighter, he certainly was. We have to devote our time and energy and that’s what ESPN wants us to do – to devote our time and energy to the current elite fighters like Terence Crawford, like Lomachenko and others like Valdez and Ramirez.”
Pacquiao is first linked with a fight against Adrien Broner in early 2019 on either January 12th or 19th.
Arum continues to churn out big numbers with his Top Rank stable on the new ESPN+ app.
