Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury looks set to do huge numbers according to early reports following the conclusion of their international press tour.
Both guys are characters and can sell a fight, no doubt about it.
But the real sell here is that they represent two of the top three heavyweights in the world and will see a coming together of two undefeated champions (Fury being the lineal heavyweight champion) from across the pond.
In terms of a fight between an American and a UK heavyweight, it’s probably the biggest fight since Lennox Lewis vs Mike Tyson.
Fans love the heavyweight division and have been waiting for a fight like this for years. Boxing has been starved of this kind of fight for too long.
Fans appear to have voted with confidence of the event with their wallets early doors:
Told that $1 million in tickets already sold in first 25 minutes for the @BronzeBomber Tyson Fury fight. LA’s a big fight town….
