Jermell Charlo in the US has spoken today about an offer he has for Floyd Mayweather before he steps back into the ring with Manny Pacquiao.
Mayweather has spoken about how he wants a warm up fight in Tokyo this December before he gets back in there with Manny Pacquiao.
Likely this tune up fight is not going to be against someone at world-class, elite level.
Or even a top ten fighter at welterweight to be fair.
When you look at the welterweight division at the moment, it’s a shark pool.
Mayweather would not want to take on any of the top guys at 147lbs before Pacquiao, no doubt about it.
Jermell Charlo is a step up in weight from that and speaking today on TMZ he had this to say:
“I’m one of the names on the table. If you want a tune up fight I’m definitely one of the names you should consider before Pacquiao.”
He added:
“If you want that challenge I’m definitely here to accept.”
He continued:
“If he in the weight class and he boxing right now, I’d definitely take a fight with Floyd.”
Charlo concluded with this message for Mayweather:
“Hey, if you want a tune up fight I’ve got a passport I can go to Tokyo and we can make it happen.”
Don’t expect Mayweather to take such a dangerous challenge, though.
