Oscar De La Hoya has appeared live on ESPN this morning ahead of the highly anticipated Gennady Golovkin vs Canelo Alvarez rematch on September 15th.
In recent days Canelo’s promoter and former world champion Oscar De La Hoya questioned how much Golovkin supports his own country of Kazahkstan in an interview with Villainfy Media.
This was met with a response from Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler who wasn’t pleased with the remarks that De La Hoya alleged regarding Golovkin, who according to De La Hoya, asked for his national anthem and any national anthem for that matter not to be played before the bout.
Loeffler refuted that this happened.
Straight away on ESPN this morning the folks in studio pressed De La Hoya on the subject, which like the artful dodger, he stealthily avoided straight out of the gates in terms of addressing the topic directly, but, did continue to touch on the bad blood between everyone involved in the promotion:
He’s a promoter after all and a bloody good one.
The story line is really in full flow at the moment ahead of the rematch.
Despite many wondering was it getting enough push in recent weeks the buzz seems to be really coming to life among boxing fans at the moment for what is a really wonderful fight.
