Amir Khan Doesn’t Believe Pacquiao Is Finished

Amir Khan returns to the ring this weekend against Samuel Vargas in Birmingham.

Khan has fully committed to the welterweight division at this stage of his career following a prolonged break from the sport before coming back this year.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s fight Khan said:

“I’m only going to fight at 147lbs from now on and that’s what I’m going to do.”

A lot has been mentioned about a possible fight between Khan and Manny Pacquiao.

If the fight does happen, Khan is not underestimating ‘Pacman’, even at his advanced age.

He added:

“Look he’s 38 years old now, or 39. A lot of people are saying to me that I’m 31 and am I getting on a little bit. I think I’m at the peak of my career. Whereas Pacquiao, is he in the peak of his career? Look at his last fight against Lucas Matthysse. He boxed really well and knocked him out. No one expected that. He looked strong again as he always has. I think age is just a number to be honest with ya. Look at Floyd Mayweather, he was 40 years old and he was a world champion. Pacquiao, yeah I think he’ll be around. He looked good in his last fight only a couple of months ago and he wants to fight again at the end of the year, so who knows?”

Khan’s fight this weekend will take place at the Birmingham Arena in the UK.
