Former WBO cruiserweight world champion has been posting strange and concerning tweets on Twitter in recent times.
It is unclear if they are being written by Cleverly himself or if his account has been hacked, but the fact they are coming from his officially verified Twitter handle (with the blue tick), and have been steadily been put out for over a month now – points to the former.
The latest being this one:
I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO APOLOGISE TO THE BOXING WORLD ….
I WAS A FRAUD. I’M SORRY.
I BLUFFED IT.
ONCE AGAIN, SINCERE APOLOGIES,
THE FORMER:-
-COMMONWEALTH CHAMPION,
-BRITISH CHAMPION,
-EUROPEAN CHAMPION,
-WBO WORLD CHAMPION,
-WBA WORLD CHAMPION.— CLEV (@NathanClev) August 20, 2018
Concerning stuff indeed.
Hopefully Cleverly can get the help he needs to come out of whatever dark place he is currently in.
Fans have been expressing their concern for his health on Twitter:
Get some help fella

Mate you were never a fraud….
you held the titles because you dug deep & won those titles
This is the part where you need to dig just a little deeper & come back from the dark place your at.
Chin up @kingNathanClev
