The first live event in the US for Matchroom Boxing USA in conjunction with the new DAZN streaming app will take place on October 6th in Chicago. The main fights have now been formally confirmed for the card.
Big time boxing in Chicago has been a rarity in recent years but with a healthy Polish population the decision to draft in Tomasz Adamek to take on New Yorker Jarrell Miller in the heavyweight bout is an understandable one.
Eddie Hearn and DAZN have clearly seen an opportunity to put on boxing in other parts of America outside the old regulars of New York, California and Las Vegas and Chicago will be the first to experience their billion dollar venture into American boxing.
The main fights announced for the card are as follows:
- Jessie Vargas vs Thomas Dulorme
- Jarrell Miller vs Tomasz Adamek
- Artur Beterbiev vs Callum Johnson
- Daniel Roman vs Gavin McDonnell
The first event to be shown on DAZN however to US fight fans will come next month on September 22nd in the form of Anthony Joshua vs Alexander Povetkin that takes place in the UK, but in terms of live events in the US, it will be interesting to see how October 6th goes in Chicago and then in Boston on October 20th.
The October 6th event will take place in the Wintrust Arena in Chicago.
