A potentially staged altercation between Anthony Joshua and Alexander Povetkin took place in New York earlier. Make of it what you will, Joshua has now given his comments on what happened.
Of course the fight everyone wants to see is Joshua vs Wilder but instead Joshua will face an equally dangerous foe in Alaxander Povetkin next up on September 22nd.
Povetkin looked trim and focused at today’s presser announcing the fight on the DAZN streaming platform in the US.
One Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller was lurking just in the background on the stage behind the two.
He started making comments in Joshua’s ear on camera and Joshua turned around and obliged some choice language back.
Here is what the current heavyweight champion made of today:
Massive respect to Povetkin. When two lions meet & you hear a lil pup barking, don’t play with big cats.. That’s a warning 🦁 #AJBXNG pic.twitter.com/bJxlpFsFdg

One would hope that a Joshua vs Miller fight is not being lined up for next year instead of the Wilder super fight that everyone wants.
The problem is though that negotiations for the fight don’t seem to be going too well at all.
Joshua, his promoter Eddie Hearn and Wilder’s co-manager Shelly Finkel are all in New York at the moment.
One would hope they will meet and get this deal done once and for all.
