Amir Khan Calls Out Manny Pacquiao

Amir Khan returns to action in September but the third fight in his three fight deal with new promoter Eddie Hearn is scheduled to be on UK pay per view, meaning it will have to be a big fight. Manny Pacquiao could be an option – says Amir Khan.

Khan made his return to the ring earlier this year with a first round blowout over Phil Lo Greco and will next take on Samuel Vargas on September 8th in Birmingham, UK.

It is thought that the third fight of the year for Khan will take place in December just before Christmas and it could very well be against his old sparring partner and good friend Manny Pacquiao.

Speaking to Boxing Social, Khan said:

“I know Manny Pacquiao is getting a little bit older now but it’s a great time to catch him. The Manny Pacquiao fight would be a mega big fight. The Kell Brook fight is always going to be there.”

He added:

“It would be a lot easier to make the Manny Pacquiao fight with me being the mandatory and also at 147lbs, that’s where the fight would be.”

Khan was suggesting the weight would make the Pacquiao fight easier.

As he and Pacquiao both box at welterweight whereas Brook will need to come down from super welterweight.

That all being said, Pacquiao must first come through Lucas Matthysse next month in Malaysia on July 15th.
