WBO middleweight world champion Billy Joe Saunders has been strongly linked to a fight with Canelo Alvarez in September after negotiations for the Golovkin vs Canelo rematch appear to have hit a stand still recently.
While the fight everyone wants at middleweight is obviously Golovkin vs Canelo, a Saunders world title showdown for Alvarez in the meantime if an agreement can’t be reached with ‘GGG’ isn’t too shabby.
It’s unclear what is really going on behind the scenes as it appears both the Golovkin and Canelo camps are scrambling to get something arranged next.
Saunders has ripped Canelo however saying:

Strong words from Saunders.
The Englishman must first get past his next challenge of Martin Murray this summer before any potential Canelo fight could happen.
A tough ask in itself.
Murray while challenging for the world title many times and just coming up short, is known as one of the toughest fighters in world middleweight boxing and knows that this could be his last chance at winning a world title – which will make him more dangerous than ever.
