Evander Holyfield Explains How Deontay Wilder Beat The Odds

Legendary boxer Evander Holyfield has taken time out of his busy schedule to talk all things modern heavyweight boxing.

It wasn’t long ago that it was Holyfield at the top of the heavyweight tree in a great era that included him, Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis among others.

Holyfield would make a name for himself in the sport that will never be forgotten.

One of the true warriors in boxing history and a gentleman with never a bad word to say about anyone.

Speaking at a press day in an open media scrum today, Holyfield when asked his opinion about current WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder said:

“I would say he has the best progression (out of many of the heavyweight fighters). Here’s a guy who boxes because he wants to help his kids. How many people do you think who fight who look like him with a basketball body? But he worked his skills and everything they thought he wasn’t going to be he became? I think he’s getting better and better. I don’t think he’s getting worst, I think he’s getting better and I think he’s hitting the people a little bit harder than he used to hit them.”

Wilder is currently in negotiations for a heavyweight super fight against Anthony Joshua.
